Since Wednesday 20 January a few of us in Year 9 have been taking part in this year’s Industrial Cadets Bronze Award. It was an exciting STEM opportunity that ran throughout the Spring Term. This 12-week project was aimed at Year 9 pupils who have an interest in careers in physics, engineering or industry, and it was a great experience that we all were incredibly happy to be a part of.
For this Award we had a few project options but after deliberation our team, including - Chelsy, Chloe, Lizzie, Sanyia, Kotori, Stephanie and Juliet– decided upon the project ‘Designing Houses for Climate Change’.
After weeks of hard work, we had produced a written report, a 3D-printed model and a five-minute video presentation of our project and the house that we had designed through much research and deliberation. Finally, on the last Friday of the Easter Holidays, after our final assessment interview three days prior, we attended the virtual Award Ceremony and our team ‘Ambitious Architects’ were thrilled to be awarded the trophy for ‘Best Teamwork’.
The entire team has worked incredibly hard during this project and it’s been a great experience for us all, not only due to the vast improvement of our skills in learning, life and work but also due to how fun it has been and how much knowledge we have gained researching and sharing our discoveries with each other. We are all very grateful for this opportunity and extremely proud of what we have achieved!
