This week, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from award winning author, Sophie McKenzie, in a virtual event. We were all excited to see such an accomplished and well-known writer visit Badminton; her books are incredibly popular amongst the girls, and it was wonderful to see their eager expressions on the day.
Sophie provided some brilliant insight on what it takes to be an author, as well as describing her passion for writing and how life doesn’t always go as you may expect it to. Her inspiring speech was received keenly by the girls and they showed this through their many excellent questions!
I am sure that everyone is excited to get their hands on her new novel, Hide and Secrets, that will be coming out very soon. We are so grateful to Sophie for her brilliant visit and hope to have her back again soon - hopefully, next time, in person!

On Wednesday we had a visit from award winning author Sophie McKenzie. She told us about her career as a journalist-turned-author and read us an extract of her upcoming book ‘Hide and Secrets’. She also gave us the opportunity to ask her lots of questions regarding her work, her opinions on the world of publishing and advice for aspiring authors. Overall, it was a very interesting and engaging afternoon.

I was so excited to hear that I had the opportunity to ask Sophie McKenzie some questions live! I have always loved her books so being able to hear her answer my questions was a really valuable experience. I am going to use her writing tips over the summer when I will have lots of time to write!
