I am delighted to have received the news that I have been awarded the Lord Toulson Essay Prize in Law given by Cambridge University in honour of the late Lord Toulson, the former Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
At the end of April, I submitted an entry for the essay competition where I explored the statement: “The government should take control of unoccupied homes and allocate them to the homeless.”
Having critically analysed the question, I formulated a strong and compelling argument whilst highlighting the different issues the question raises. I found writing the essay to be very thought-provoking and I very much enjoyed the experience.
I have learnt a great deal about the law alongside its application to different situations and am very excited to study law as a subject in the future.
