The last week in the Sixth Form Centre has certainly been an exciting whirlwind for our pupils. Year 11 and Upper Sixth have completed their assessments and many members of the Lower Sixth have been working hard on their English-Speaking Board qualification.
Amongst the assessments there has been plenty of time for fun and celebrations. An important event last week was Eid which was celebrated by a number of girls in the Boarding House. Lyra, Upper Sixth, had the pleasure of being invited to her homestay for a morning meal to break the month long fast with the family. She made an artistic card for the family and has shared with us her experience of Eid:
“My home stay family cooked biryani (a popular rice dish among Muslims), mandazi (a fried bread originates from Tanzania) and other small dishes (by no means less tasty) like samosas and meat balls. After being separated with them for so long, I was grateful and exhilarated to be invited to celebrate with them their most important festival of the year.”
We are so pleased Lyra had such a wonderful experience and it is always lovely for our girls to be invited to celebrate these important events with homestays, guardians, and friends throughout the year.
