This week we joined Ayushi, Year 8, and members from her family to donate a cheque to representatives of Southmead Hospital Charity for nearly £5000 after her epic 10-mile swimming challenge last summer.
Ayushi was inspired to fundraise for the Hospital by her grandad, who is an outpatient at Southmead Hospital’s Bright Satellite Dialysis Unit. He has been receiving dialysis treatment three times a week for the last four years. It was wonderful that he was able to join us.
Sarah Harrison, Director of Southmead Hospital Charity, said: “A challenge of this magnitude is a feat of endurance for anyone, let alone a passionate young person like Ayushi. We know just how much this challenge means to her and her family, and we are so grateful for her super-human support.“
At the same time, Ayushi was presented with the "South West Youth Champion Award" by Chris Elliott, the Swim England South West Region President who was accompanied by Martyn Neale, Gloucester County President.
What a phenomenal achievement! Congratulations to Ayushi from all at Badminton.
