We are delighted and extremely proud to announce our very own Miss Elsley has won 'Sports Personality of the Year' at the Bath Chronicle Sports Awards 2014.
Miss Elsley’s passion for sport, and netball in particular, has seen her play for Team Bath since a young age, help her team win silver at the World Indoor Championships this year in South Africa and go on to captain England at a recent test against South Africa. Although Miss Elsley’s achievements are triumphant in themselves, they are made even more impressive considering that at age 31, she was told she had a heart condition that might prevent her exercising again and required her to have a dual chamber pacemaker fitted. Miss Elsley has since become ambassador for the charity Heart Research UK.
Miss Elsley says “I had no idea I had even been nominated for the award and was genuinely amazed to be shortlisted, and completely shocked to win it! I’m still speechless – this has been the best year of my life to date, without a doubt”
