On Thursday 10 January, two teams competed in the Bristol round of the Centre Parcs Badminton England Schools’ Competition. Both teams were extremely successful!
There were 6 teams in total and our B Team turned in an excellent performance, with some stunning wins against tough opposition and eventually they finished second on the afternoon. Our A Team went a step further, winning the event with a clean slate, having vanquished every pair of opponents they faced in a truly impressive performance over ten tricky sets.
Each team member gave their all, fighting valiantly in each match. In one breath-taking comeback against Bristol Grammar School’s top team, Mai and Cherry fought from 2-7 down to win the set 15-11, providing an
excellent demonstration of why you should never give up!
Unfortunately only one team can progress to the county final of the competition, so the A Team will be representing Badminton on the 24th of January. But both teams deserve to be recognised for their performance – you can’t do better than coming first and second in a competition!
A Team: Mai (Yr 7), Cherry (Yr 9), Simone (Yr 9), Jennifer (Yr 9).
B Team: Polina (Yr 8), Shirley (Yr 9), Lucia (Yr 9), Harriet (Yr 9), Maryam (Yr 7).
