Mrs Tear's Thoughts of the Week

It has been a busy time as we plan for more people to return to the campus, but our energy has been sustained by all the great Badminton news that keeps our interest piqued and inspiration rife.

We have seen some exciting announcements regarding Old Badmintonians: Rosamund Pike was victorious at the 2021 Golden Globes on Sunday night, taking home the ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy’ prize for her role in the dark comedy ‘I Care A Lot’ and, coinciding with World Book Day, the publication of Emma Stonex’s debut novel in her own name, ‘The Lamplighters’. I am awaiting my copy of this tale of three lighthouse keepers inspired by real events and cannot wait to delve into the Cornish mystery! Furthermore, our World Book Day guest, Roz Kay, was actually inspired to write her book ‘The Keeper of the Stones’ during her Badminton years!

Meanwhile, closer to home as well as all the interaction via badmintonconnectED we have had highlights like the HUGE participation in World Book Day with some amazing outfits, calm pebble painting in the Junior School giving pupils time to reflect and be creative off-line and even the most delightful feedback on our Lower Sixth who attended the McWhirter Conference; “they were fantastic delegates at the conference and a credit to your school.  They were enthusiastic and provided intelligent debate”.

We could not be prouder of our community and are excited to see some of you return to the campus next week!
