Mrs Tear's Thoughts of the Week

The week got off to a flying start with an assembly led by ‘The Citrus Way’, our very own award-winning entrepreneurs.

Their planning, communication skills and ability to engage with the audience was absolutely clear; from the fun videos they shared to their top tips and practical advice for those following in their wake. I felt that I had as much to learn from their presentation as the Years 10 and 11 hoping to enter this year’s Tycoon Enterprise Challenge. I am in no doubt that communication and teamwork skills are two of the most vital skills that we can nurture to enable future success in our changing world. If we can also be reflective, and learn from feedback, then this may complete the golden trilogy of skills for adapting and thriving no matter what we encounter; just as our Citrus Way Team proved highly able at doing!

The days continue with much energy and enthusiasm - I was delighted to see Year 8 planning the Badminton Baccalaureate in their tutor times this week. It was great to hear so many are already going for Gold (and impressive to hear that they felt, if they were introduced, to try to achieve Platinum level too... #BSBAmbition!) It was also a treat to hear the mellifluous tones of music emanating from The Old Gym as I walked my dog past the orchestra rehearsal on the evening of #TuneUpTuesday - so much to look forward to in our Spring Concert I am sure.

As the week draws to a close and the Christmas trees appear (to enable us to record our End of Term events in good time…) together with an invitation to see the recording of the Acorns Christmas play tomorrow the excitement certainly mounts…even though they are virtual, please don’t forget to save the date for all our events!
