This week, TuneUp organised a national celebration of the arts by encouraging schools across the country to embrace music and other art forms through performance-based activities. They also released a number of video activities for pupils to take part in within lessons.
Nationally, the virtual event involved over 110,000 pupils and more than 130 industry professionals.
The Music Department at Badminton was delighted to be a part of the event as pupils from across the School engaged with music in both lessons and co-curricular activities. We held numerous rehearsals in advance of forthcoming events, including Senior Choir and Schola rehearsing choral items for our forthcoming Virtual Carol Service, and Symphony Orchestra rehearsing ahead of events next Term.
Pupils with timetabled Music started lessons with activities led by industry professionals. These included Year 8 taking part in a rhythm-based activity led by renowned percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Upper Sixth musicians receiving top tips from members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
