No one can have failed to notice Anti-Bullying Week, or indeed resisted a smile, as our week started with a cheerful array of odd socks across the community!
It was a wonderful show of support for kindness, inclusivity and positive relationships. It resonated entirely with a book given to me last week, “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” by Charlie Mackesy. These words, taken from that, reinforce what I feel should be at the heart of our Badminton Education and of all our personal goals:
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“Kind” said the boy
I have certainly felt that sentiment as I have had opportunities this week to be included in helping with lunch for the younger classes in the Junior School, joining in plans for Sixth Form Entertainment (watch this space for some end of Term festive fun) and I have even been offered a part in the forthcoming Murder Mystery evening with Involved (please do sign up as I am sure, as well as intrigue, there will be an awful lot of opportunity for laughter).
Elsewhere in School I have been delighted to see The Casson Library showcasing literature more generally on the anti-bullying theme with an enticing display of books by our Librarian, Mrs Ghoshray and to hear about the 10 girls in Years 7-9 who had the opportunity this week to present the work they did as part of the inaugural Governors’ Challenge Award to two of the School’s Governors. The Governors were incredibly impressed by the high standard and wide-ranging work that was presented, and you can read more about this in an article below.
All these things reinforce the importance of our community and the mutual support and kindness within it; thank you Badminton!
