Mrs Tear's Thoughts of the Week

Last week I commented that I knew that much will be enjoyed and achieved this Term – well its already begun!

Last Saturday I watched our Science Outreach Team deliver remote Scientific experiments, explanations, and fun to a group of prospective pupils. Our team negotiated the challenges of managing demonstrating the science, explaining it as they went along and seeking audience feedback (to check understanding) all whilst working through the medium of Teams. I was hugely proud of the Badmintonians and prospective Badmintonians collaborating to generate successful experiments (such as the creation of slime!) and enabling understanding of all the science behind them; a great outcome that augurs well for the Term ahead.

Thanks to the many pupils and parents who have already reached out to give us feedback on remote learning. We are delighted with how well the timetables in the Junior and Senior School have fallen into place from lessons through to Pastoral Meetings. I am hugely impressed also by the number of pupils engaging in our enrichment activities such as Science@Home, Historical interpretation, Badminton Community Kitchen and of course Wellbeing's RED January challenge. I am looking forward to more news of those as the Term progresses (and must remember to log my miles for our team’s Red January Compass Challenge!).

Whilst we await confirmation from the Government about the format of public exams, we have received excellent results this week for our EPQ students. We were hugely proud, and impressed, by the 100% A*/A rate achieved by all our pupils: our best ever outcomes!
