The unfolding story of Iris Murdoch’s legacy continued at Badminton School today with an outstanding 100% of girls achieving A*- B and 91% A*- A grades in the English Literature GCSE exam this summer. Overall, 76% of the girls’ grades were A*- A, with 90% of candidates achieving A*- B grades. In addition, 45% of the girls achieved 6 or more A* grades with 15 pupils awarded 9 or more A* grades.
Bristol pupils Lauren and Laura achieved outstanding results. Lauren, who received 10 A* grades said: “I am ecstatic with my results and I am particularly pleased with my Latin and History grades.” Laura, who achieved a fantastic 9 A*s and an A grade said: “I am really happy with my results and delighted that all my hard work over the last two years has paid off.”
Mrs Lucy Griffith, Head of English and Creative Arts, commented, “We are really proud of the girls’ achievements which demonstrate clearly their love of English. Their creative writing pieces were fantastic as was their engagement with the classic texts of Pride & Prejudice and Romeo & Juliet.”
Mrs Rebecca Tear, Headmistress at Badminton School, said: “I am pleased for all of our girls with their individual achievements, which are all the more impressive in the context of their extra -curricular contributions. These girls are more than ready to take on the next steps of their education and I look forward to seeing them thrive!”
