Whole School Sixth Form

Just as the Great British athletes aim high in Rio, the girls at Badminton School achieved top results in their A Levels; 67% of all grades awarded A*/A, whilst 90% were graded A* - B.

For the third successive year, all Medics, Dentists and Veterinary Scientists at Badminton secured their university places. Many girls leaving Badminton this year will go on to study a range of STEM subjects including Medicine, Dentistry, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Engineering and Computing at university level. Anisha, who joined Badminton in Year 5, will begin her course in Chemistry at Lincoln College, Oxford in October after securing 4 A*s; “I am really looking forward to going into more detail in the subject. The support from the teachers at Badminton and the opportunities in Science Outreach really boosted my love for Science; I can’t wait to get started!”

Lucy, from Bristol, is excited to embark on her study of Dentistry at Sheffield. “I got 2 A*s and an A and want to study Dentistry following personal experiences growing up. I was lucky enough to be offered a place at all the universities I applied for but am looking forward to moving to Sheffield and meeting new people in September.”

Mrs Warden, Head of STEM commented; “As a school we appreciate that great results are not enough; it is all the extra-curricular activities that help the girls access the most competitive university courses.”

Mrs Tear, Headmistress at Badminton School commented; “our girls’ individual achievements are a true testament to their hard work. The support from our inspirational teachers and pastoral staff propel the girls into being the best they can be. I am immensely proud of this year’s A Level cohort and what they have achieved. Whilst I am delighted at the strength of our STEM applicants, I am equally proud that we have girls going on to study a wide range of subjects from History of Art to Anthropology. It is a strength that we enable each girl to find her niche.”

The Sixth Form at Badminton is vibrant and with over 100 girls enjoying the School's holistic approach to education and excellent onsite facilities including a self-contained Sixth Form Centre, indoor swimming pool, full-sized astro pitch and Creative Arts Centre. The Upper and Lower Sixth girls embrace a more independent learning structure, within a supportive environment, to prepare them for university. Opportunities outside the classroom are vast and varied and range from the Extended Project Qualification to Leith's Academy.
