Badminton School was delighted and privileged to host a special visiting speaker on Wednesday 14 September for the first of our Brain Project talks. Professor John Stein, with great wit, presented his thoughts on “Learning and the Brain”. This topic was of great interest to our girls intending to enter medical research or the field of neuroscience. The event also attracted a large audience of parents and professionals from others schools and colleges. We would like to thank our School Ambassadors and Alice (Year 7), who helped with the hosting. The event was a huge success as we managed to raise a £250 donation for the Dyslexia Research Trust.
Professor John Stein is emeritus Professor of Neuroscience and Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford. In theory ‘retired’, he still teaches neuroscience to medical and psychology students and his research focuses on the role of visual motion sensitivity in the control of movement and behavior, particularly in students with dyslexia.
The next of our Brain Project talks will take place on Wednesday 5th October with Professor Steve Chinn. Please contact [email protected] should you wish to attend.
