It was a very early start on Saturday for the Badminton Equestrian Team who were competing in the Inter-Schools JWS (jumping with style) competition at Hartpury.

The competition involves jumping around a course of show jumping and cross country fences in an arena. The cross country phase has to be completed within an optimum time and the riders are judged on style over the whole course.  Clara (Yr 8), Amy (Yr 7), Olivia (Yr 9) and India (Yr 9) competed as a team representing Badminton in two classes and Martha (Yr 10) also competed in both classes as an individual. There were 15 teams in the first class and Badminton came fifth. All five girls had a clear round in this class and Clara got an individual placing of tenth out of 88! In the second class Clara and Amy both jumped another clear round with Clara gaining another individual placing of tenth out of 129! The team finished ninth out of 24 teams. Olivia was unlucky to have just one pole down and India and Martha collected a few faults but still jumped round the whole course very well.

Well done to all the girls involved.
