Senior School Art

Georgina Luck has been drawing, painting and illustrating for restaurants, supermarkets and magazines from the comfort of her own home studio for many years.

Beginning her art career, she studied in Hastings and learned the foundations for Graphic Design. She then moved to Bristol, where she gained a degree in illustration. As soon as people started to take notice of her work, Georgina was invited to utilise her amazing art skills to paint packaging designs for several food companies.

When we had our live online webinar with her on in our Art lesson, Georgina showed us her studio and all the art materials that she uses. She uses Indian acrylic inks instead of paints as she can create thinner lines, and build several layers, with colours becoming more vibrant with each layer. We were lucky enough to watch Georgina create an illustration of a box of jelly babies.

She encouraged us to not be afraid of going over drawn lines and that by making mistakes, we learn. She taught us several different techniques, such as how to create splatter paint effects and how to blend colours together.

The most important thing that I learnt from the webinar was to not be afraid of making mistakes and if you do, learn from them to make something your work even better!
