The School entered a team for the annual ‘Top of the Bench’ chemistry competition. This is organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry and usually takes place at Bristol University, but this year it was held virtually. Each school selected a team of four to represent them, so we wish the best of luck to Badminton’s four: Stang, Chenumi, Lizzie and Kotori who are still waiting for the results to be announced!

On Tuesday I was honoured to be able to participate in the annual Royal Society ‘Top of the Bench’ chemistry competition! This was a group event, consisting of a few chosen pupils in school: two in Year 9, one in Year 10, and one in Year 11. I thoroughly enjoyed this competition, as it was an opportunity to both apply and expand my chemistry knowledge in a fun and exciting way. Additionally, it was a good way to practice my teamwork skills. I hope to able to participate in similar events in the future and look forward to seeing the results!

I had a wonderful opportunity to participate in the ‘Top of the Bench’ competition. Although this year’s event met under different circumstances from the rest, we were still grateful to be able to contribute virtually. Another positive of this competition has been the fact that it enables me to communicate with other Year Groups in a time of Year Group Bubbles and separation. This competition has given me a chance to work with and get to know my younger peers, as well as revise my knowledge in chemistry.
