My experience working with the lovely cast of ‘My Fair Lady’ is one I will not be forgetting anytime soon. Having been originally cast as an ensemble member before my rise to fame as the strict Ms Pearce, I was able to be involved in this play and gain understanding of it from different perspectives.
I learnt the importance of background characters to build an active atmosphere in scenes and as Ms Pearce, the importance of interacting with others to put on the best possible performance. Despite Ms Pearce not being the grandest character on the stage, I really enjoyed playing the role as it enabled me to grow in confidence and taught me how to better create a sense of realism with my acting.
Looking back, the road to our final performance was surely a bumpy one. However, my favourite part of the whole process was definitely getting to meet all the amazing people I got to share the stage with. This opportunity really allowed me to interact with students across different Year Groups that I probably would’ve never met if not for the play. I think the final showcase was a massive success and I’m extremely proud of all the hard work and hours of rehearsal it took to get it where it needed to be.
I honestly don’t think it would’ve been half as good without the musical genius of Mr Dowd and the amazing directing of Mr Chilcott. They worked tirelessly to pull the play together and to ensure that everyone felt confident before and even when on stage.
I would forever reminisce on this time of my life as a unique, character-building experience to which I am extremely proud to be a part of.

I remember feeling really excited on the day Mrs Griffith announced in assembly that we would be doing “My Fair Lady” this year. The School production was one of the things I was looking forward to in my GCSE year.
In the short three months of rehearsals, the whole cast and crew, with the direction of Mr Chilcott and Mr Dowd, managed to produce the performance that was received by lots of laughter. From acting to singing to waltzing in the Embassy Ball, I really enjoyed working with other Year Groups. I especially enjoyed singing “Wouldn’t it be Loverly” alongside the cockney quartet (Evie, Gabby and Chelsy) and Eliza Doolittle (Emily).
It is needless to say that all the hard work and hours of rehearsals really paid off. Being in the production really gave us the opportunity to build our confidence, meet new friends while having lots of fun.
It was an amazing experience and I cannot wait for the next production!

In rehearsing for the play, My Fair Lady, there was a big sense of community. With lots of laughing and fun throughout most rehearsals. Being the younger group of the cast we felt that it was a newer and more nerve racking experience.
I have made many new friends that otherwise I wouldn’t have talked to. There was a huge amount of work and lines that needed to be learned and in the end we all pulled through and left the stage with songs ringing in our ears (and the audience’s too), even days after the show.
Our costumes were fantastic and the music was incredible which made the play a joy to be a part of.
Thank you!
