Last year saw the introduction of the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) at Badminton School and it proved to be hugely popular among the Sixth Form girls. The EPQ is a sort of ‘mini thesis’ done by girls in Year 12 and gives them the chance to pursue a topic of study which is totally of their own choosing and unconstrained by an exam syllabus. With its emphasis on independent research and self-motivation, the EPQ is becoming a key component of Sixth Form life.
Last week the School was delighted to receive the results of the first ever cohort and, as was to be expected, the girls have once again done the School proud! With 80% achieving A*-B, there can be little doubt that all of the hard work, time and dedication has paid off. The girls who saw the EPQ through from start to finish (whilst also studying four A Levels and balancing other co-curricular commitments!) can be justifiably proud of what they have achieved. Completing in an EPQ is an achievement in itself! The girls also underline the breadth of academic curiosity at Badminton by pursuing areas of study as rich and varied as ancient Greek tragedies, the reasons for the fall of France in 1940, Ebola, clinical trials and the Nigerian Civil War.
These girls deserve huge congratulations and there is great pride here at what they have achieved.
