Thursday 1st October marked National Poetry Day and in English lessons Years 7, 8 and 9 were reading and crafting poems on the theme of ‘Vision’. Tutor time on Thursday was spent enjoying a huge showcase of poems created in lessons, with some wonderful poems accompanied by short films and emotive readings.
Thanks to Twitter, we made contact with Brian Moses - one of the poets who had created a poem for the National Poetry Day website – who kindly offered some feedback to Years 7 and 8 on their ‘Clouds’ poems, inspired by his work of the same name. He was so impressed by the work of Celeste, Year 7, that he asked permission to publish her work on his blog! She delightedly agreed and is thus a published poet!
Our Twitter celebrations were also noticed by former Children’s Laureate, Michael Rosen. Mrs Sapsford may have done a virtual cartwheel when this notification popped up!
