A Night at the Museum

Events Sixth Form

Last Friday saw Badminton’s inaugural Leavers’ Ceremony take place at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery. During the evening, parents, staff, families and friends all enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate the Sixth Form students’ time at Badminton. On arrival guests were encouraged to explore some of the Museum’s’ galleries - most notably the Egypt Gallery - before the main presentation took place. During the presentation ceremony, tutors said a few words about each of their tutees before girls came up to receive a school brooch from the Headmistress, Mrs Tear, and a transcript of their achievements from the outgoing Chair of Governors, Mrs Alison Bernays. Special prizes were also presented: Devika received the Book Award from the Old Badmintonians Association; Katherine received the Urquhart Travel Award; Karn received the Christine Harris Cup for her outstanding drama performances, and Esme received the Blue Bowl for her services to the School community.

The presentation ceremony was followed by a delicious finger buffet where parents had the opportunity to mingle with students and staff, and of course take photos! The Museum provided an impressive backdrop for the whole evening, which was rounded off to perfection by the Head Girls organising pump handles in true Badminton tradition!
