Early last Friday morning, fifteen Year 13 Biologists set off for the Nettlecombe Court Field Studies Centre in Somerset where they were given the opportunity to experience various ecological sampling techniques. They were also statistically analysing the data they collected to determine the significance of their findings and by carrying out the investigations themselves, they were able to critically evaluate their techniques.
The girls visited some very special and unique sites in the South West of England including the UNESCO Sand Dunes site at Braunton Burrows, the Rocky Shore at Porlock Bay and the magical Embercombe Water on Exmoor.
The girls had a wonderful if rather exhausting time with studies which continued until 8pm every night. They were excellent company and worked exceptionally well together and were complimented on their knowledge and team spirit by the staff at Nettlecombe. They took on every activity with enthusiasm and as consequence gained much from the experience.
