Year 7 'Flying Start' Workshop with Engineers from Rolls Royce

Year 7 enjoyed an exciting day of Engineering on Thursday 7^th December participating in the Flying Start Challenge.

Six Engineers from Rolls Royce came in to guide the girls through the process an engineer would take when designing and building a glider. The girls spent the morning exploring all the aspects that go into a good design, including scientific, financial and aesthetic considerations before spending the afternoon building and testing their designs with the whole day culminating in an exciting “fly-off”, with the winning team proving superior to that designed by our Rolls Royce mentors!
