What a day! Blessed by beautiful sunshine with Westerleigh Brass Band’s music setting the atmosphere, this year’s Summer Fête was bigger and better than ever before. Families, friends and girls of Badminton School arrived loaded with pockets of small change for a day of maggot racing, face painting, competitions and ice cream amongst so much more!
Entries flooded in for the cupcake competition and flower pot garden competition resulting in tough work for the judges. Winners were decided however and were as follows; cupcake competition winners: Stephanie, Elizabeth (Year 8), Angel, Emily (Year 7), Georgie (Year 6) and Sarah (Year 5). The U5 category winner for the flower pot garden competition was Tabitha (Little Acorn) with her beautiful “My Daddy’s Garden”, the U8 winner was Mollie (Year 2) and Emily (Year 5) clinched the prize in the U11 age group. Phoebe (Year 5) won a magnificent chocolate hamper in the raffle and George Dodd guessed the pirate’s name correctly and took him home.
Stalls were run by the girls, “Involved” and parents and included Bartlett’s ever-popular “make a craft with Bartlett” stall along with their Gardening Club stall, Badock’s hair feathers, Burke’s Tried and Tested Recipes, all of which were raising money for various charities including over £800 for the School charity, Fibromyalgia UK, and a total in excess of £1,000 for the range of other charities supported on the day.
Morris men rounded off the day nicely with a jolly dance that drew in the crowds. Thank you to all those that came on the day and to all the stall holders ... roll on Summer Fête 2015!
