The science experiments that the senior girls showed us were great fun. They used dry ice which is solid carbon dioxide and demonstrated to us what it could do. They put the dry ice in water and it bubbled like a kettle and there was lots of smoke which made it look very exciting. Then they put some in tubs with lids and after a few seconds the lids started to bulge and then they popped off. Next they showed us some nitrogen which is liquid at -196ºC. In it they froze some flower heads and bananas which then shattered on the floor like china. Finally they made some ice cream for us which froze instantly and was delicious.
