Remembrance Day with Badminton School

Whole School National Holidays & Celebrations

On Wednesday, the entirety of Badminton School joined millions of people in commemorating Remembrance Day, a chance to honour those who have served and lost their lives in the Armed Forces community since the First World War.

Mr John hosted a very poignant Assembly, where he discussed the history of Remembrance Day and the achievements of Captain Tom Moore and Dame Vera Lynn and their messages of camaraderie and morale. He also discussed how COVID-19 has affected events that usually occur annually.

Each Junior School girl added their own poppy to our beautiful wall display as well as everyone contributing to the beautiful display on our lawn for the whole School to see. Each pupil was also given a small poppy gift from The British Legion and our parents have donated to the British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The Senior School girls made amazing displays too to show their support, and the English Department shared a poem from Laurence Binyon called ‘For the Fallen’:

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
