As part of our Sports Centre project, Badminton will be installing a 29kw Photovoltaic System; a power system designed to supply usable solar power by means of photovoltaics.
The panels will be mounted on the roof of the Sixth Form Centre and the electricity generated will feed into our new Sports Centre. Any excess that the School doesn't use itself, will be fed back into the National Grid, for which we will receive an income (this is known as a feed tariff).
As a renewable energy source, Badminton applied to the Carbon Trust for a contribution towards offsetting the cost of the installation. We were successful in this application and have been rewarded a capital contribution of £2,792!
