Theatre Trip: Oleanna at the Ustinov Theatre Bath

Sixth Form Drama

It was with a keen sense of anticipation that the Lower Sixth Drama students sat in the minibus before heading off to Bath. This was the first live theatre that we had been able to see for over a year, and what a play to start off with!

‘Oleanna’ tells the story of a college professor and his student and asks the question of who was at fault when a charge of inappropriate behaviour is raised. Controversial and challenging, the story is deliberately ambiguous, and the post-show discussion was lively to say the least!

Here is what Alison had to say about the show:

“It was a very thought-provoking play and really stimulated discussion. It made me think about which character was in the right or the wrong or whether it was a grey area and they were both in the wrong. It was good to go back to the theatres sit back and watch something in person rather than streamed.”

It was such a lovely experience to be back in the Theatre and this first trip heralds the return of in - person Theatre Visits next year, we are looking forward to the upcoming ‘Wuthering Heights’ at the Bristol Old Vic.
