We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Heidi Pedlar as our incoming Head of Badminton Junior School from September 2021. Ms Pedlar, currently Assistant Head at Bristol Grammar School (Pastoral and Daily Operations) and Designated Safeguarding Lead, brings a breadth of preparatory experience, notably  as a successful Head of Juniors and Head of Pre-Prep at Walhampton School, Hampshire and Head of Juniors at Norman Court Prep School, Hampshire.

Ms Pedlar has worked in the independent sector for over twenty years in both day and boarding schools, having previously held the titles of Head of Juniors, Head of Pre-Prep and Head of Girls’ Games (as well as being a junior class teacher for many years). It was clear at interview that Ms Pedlar has a passion for ensuring that every child reaches their full academic potential as well as helping children celebrate being themselves.

There are many elements of teaching that she loves but ensuring that she knows the children and providing an all-round outstanding learning environment is of paramount importance to her. She has a warmth and energy for education that is infectious!

Outside of school, Ms Pedlar has a keen sense of adventure. Alongside her partner and ten-year-old son, she enjoys travelling around Britain and Europe in their campervan. She has a love of nature and the outdoors, relishing any opportunity to bring this passion into the learning environment. Ms Pedlar enjoys making the most of the beautiful North Somerset surroundings by taking long walks with her two wonderful dogs, Buddy and Molly. In the winter she is an avid skier and has been on, and jointly led, numerous school ski trips. She keeps her body and mind healthy through Yoga and gardening. Ms Pedlar is also a keen motorcyclist and enjoys riding her motorbike (Rebel Ray) to commute throughout the year!

Mrs Tear said: 'The selection panel and I believe Badminton has found an inspiring, engaging leader who embodies Badminton’s vision and values and we look forward to welcoming Ms Pedlar as a senior member of staff to Badminton School. We were particularly impressed with the relevance and depth of her experience and are confident that Badminton Junior School will thrive under Ms Pedlar’s leadership in the years ahead’.

Badminton Junior School is a very special and formative part of our pupils’ journey through the ‘four chapters’ of Badminton; from Nursery to Junior and from Senior into Sixth Form; we look forward to Ms Pedlar being part of our strong community and preparing our girls for their onward journey and hope that you will get the opportunity to meet her over the coming months when restrictions allow.
