At the end of the Summer Term, Badminton School was delighted to launch the first ever Governors’ Challenge Award which was open to all pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 and was completed by pupils over the summer holidays.

The Award aimed to give girls in those Year Groups the creative scope to pursue a piece of self-directed independent research in any area that interested them and to see it through from start to finish. A number of girls submitted their essays when we retuned in the Autumn Term and the range of topics was impressive! From the Spanish Armada, to China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, to Orangutans and the impact of COVID, the girls showed great creativity when thinking of areas of research.

This week, pupils were able to present their work to two Governors via Teams and the Governors commented on the high standard of research, IT and presentational skills.

We now await final deliberations before the winners are announced but, in the meantime, congratulations to each and every girl who showed such spirit in entering Badminton’s first ever Governors’ Award Challenge!
