For World Environment Day 2019, the focus was raising money for TreeAid, a Bristol based Charity that helps people in the drylands of Africa to lift themselves out of poverty and protect their environment by planting and using the products of trees. Pupils from the Junior School’s Eco Committee and pupils from the Senior School’s Environmental Committee attended an event on College Green on World Environmental Day to publicise the charity’s #SheGrows campaign
Badminton took part by drawing saplings on letters spelling TIME, representing how time is running out for our planet.
Environmental Officers, Lottie and Daisy, had the opportunity to speak with Professor Alice Roberts and also participated in filming a promotional video for TreeAid. It was fascinating to meet Alice, she chatted to us about the many things the Environmental Committee is doing in School and a few possibilities for the future.
TreeAid thanked Badminton for being so pivotal in their World Environment Day awareness raising campaign.
"It was really wonderful so see the students so engaged and active, particularly the wonderful interview given by Lottie and Daisy."
The total raised by the School for Tree Aid was £1,757.82, contributing to their total of £343,542.00, which was doubled by the UK Government to £638,091.00.
